š„ How to Stop Your Dog Being Scared of Fireworks š„
Simple dog training techniques to help your dog stay calm and confident during fireworks season!
Fireworks night is just around the corner ā but itās not too late to help your dog feel calm and confident! šš¾
Hereās how to start:ā Pop your dog on a lead and have them sit calmly beside you.ā Play firework sounds from a speaker or the TV (Spotify even has a great playlist!).ā If your dog gets up, gently guide them back into position beside you ā no fuss, no cuddles, just calm confidence.ā Reward calm behaviour with soft verbal praise or a light touch when theyāre settled.
Remember ā cuddling wonāt fix fear, but structure, leadership, and calm confidence will.
For younger dogs or food-motivated pups, try scatter feeding to build a positive association with the sounds of fireworks or gunshots. Always start at a level your dog can cope with and build gradually.
